Portland, OR Auto Injury Treatment

Throughout the years, we've treated many men and women with auto injury symptoms in our Portland (Woodstock, Sellwood) office. Chiropractic care is the perfect approach to these kinds of injuries, and some studies have shown that more than 90% of patients show improvement after a whiplash injury when getting chiropractic adjustments.

A car crash subjects you to sudden, violent motion that it wasn't designed to deal with. Due to the dramatic stresses you're exposed to, the ligaments, tendons, nerve fibers, and muscles of your body can be strained, sprained, or torn during a crash. This can result in chronic pain and disability if not dealt with promptly.

From our experience and success treating these types of cases, we've seen these common signs and symptoms in our patients:

  • Headache - Nearly every car accident patient in our clinic reports headache, and this can have a wide range of origins, based upon on the type of injury you received.
  • Back problems - Yet another common problem in adults and especially after a car accident.
  • Neck problems - Your cervical spine is one of the most sensitive parts of your whole body during a car crash, and it can very easily be damaged. In point of fact, most symptoms that arise after a wreck can be directly linked to injury of the neck.
  • Shoulder problems - Your shoulder can be injured by the seatbelt, the strains on your arm during a crash, or can be a secondary symptom caused by neck injury.
  • Jaw pain - Jaw problems (or TMJ dysfunction) are another common symptom we see in our Portland (Woodstock, Sellwood) patients, and can be difficult to diagnose. Occasionally TMJ problems doesn't show up for many weeks or months after your injury.
  • Radicular pain - Radiating pain can be diagnosed by pins and needles or tingling in your arms, hands, or legs, and many auto accident patients report this problem.
  • Dizziness or Vertigo - This is a challenging symptom that can also have a wide array of origins. In most patients, we find that neck trauma is the primary cause of this symptom.
  • Thoracic Outlet Syndrome - This is still another problem triggered by damage to your neck during a collision.

If you're suffering with any of these problems after an accident, give our clinic a call. It's important for you to know that you don't have to suffer! Chiropractic care is a safe, successful, and non-invasive method that really works for these types of injuries.

If you've been injured recently, it's essential that you seek treatment quickly. Untreated injuries can result in decreased movement and the formation of scar tissue, and that can lead to persistent pain and impairment. Scientific studies show that early, gentle mobilization of the wounded tissues can boost recovery and prevent long-term problems.
